Candidates for Vice Chair/Chair Elect

Marlene Bubrick
Technical Services Librarian
UC Hastings College of the Law

Statement:

I have been a law librarian since 1988, and have been an Innovative devotee since I was introduced to it in 1990. Short of first-hand training from III, there is no better resource for learning more about the system then the IUG and the ILUG. Over the course of my career, I've found these meetings to be the most valuable way to share knowledge with my colleagues.
I would be glad to serve as the Vice-Chair of the ILUG for 2009-2010.

Judy Janes
Interim Director
UC Davis Mabie Law Library

Statement:

At the UC Davis Mabie Law Library I have been part of our Innovative system since we first purchased Innovacq some 30 years ago We are turnkey users of the system, expanding functionality as improvements were made by Innovative, migrating to Millennium in 2000. We have been "learn as we go" users and have relied on our colleagues, this group, the helpdesk, and others for assistance along the way. We do not have a dedicated IT specialist in the Library, so many staff have become expert in the technical operations of the system, and have much to share and compare. My interests are to continue identifying relevant topics for us to discuss at our meeting. And, it would be great to identify users with specific expertise, to enhance collaboration, sharing and communication support. There is valuable knowledge to be gained from law libraries that have implemented the latest enhancements; but also, those libraries, like us, that maintain a modest more bare-bones system have much to share as well. Our collective experiences with the system are invaluable, and tapping our members' knowledge is a way to enhance our learning.

Candidate for Treasurer

David Burch
Head of Library Computing Services (1996- )
Loyola Law School, Los Angeles

Statement:

Photograph: David Burch.I attended my first IUG Meetings in 1997 after starting to work at Loyola. I had previously worked at two other law schools with Innovative systems. Users groups are vital for the exchange of information that helps all of us keep our systems working and performing the task our uses expect. As one of the largest group of users, the Law Users Group has a vital role to play in the future development of the Innovative System.
I have been very pleased to serve as your treasurer for the past two years. I previously served as treasurer for the Southern California Association of Law Libraries and continue to serve as treasurer of a non-profit organization in Los Angeles. I look forward to continuing to serve the ILUG as treasurer and hope that my advice to the other officers regarding our financial status helps them in their decision-making. In the last two years as your treasurer I have had to opportunity to learn a lot of names keeping track of the system contact information you supply with your membership renewals. It is very enjoyable at our meetings to be able to put faces to the names.
