Minutes of the Annual Meeting

The meeting was held 8:00 a.m.-12:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at The Marriott Rivercenter.

  1. Chair Joe Thomas opened the meeting at 8:30. He thanked Innovative Interfaces for its generous support of the meeting, including supplying the room, technology for presentations, and food for breakfast and breaks. He introduced the agenda for the meeting:
    • 8:30-9:00: Introduction and Business Meeting (Joe Thomas)
    • 9:00-9:30: ILUG - E-Resources Management and SQL (Caitlyn Lam)
    • 9:30-10:15: III - Company Update and Product Roadmap (Hilary Newman)
    • 10:15-10:30: Break
    • 10:30-11:00: ILUG - IUG review "Slinging Statistics" (Katherine Marshall)
    • 11:00-11:45: III - Mobile Apps (Carey Hunt)
    • 11:45-12:15: ILUG - Searching & Navigating in Sierra (Ismael Gullon)
    • 12:15 "Birds of a Feather" Lunch on your own
  2. The Treasure's report needed a minor fix, and so it will be posted at the ILUG site when it is completed.
  3. Elections: a Nominations/Elections Committee was formed and included Diana Jacque (Chair), Edward Hart, Dawn Smith. They recruited candidates and ran the election. The results:
    1. Vice Chair/Chair-Elect: Scott Matheson, Associate Librarian for Technical Services, Yale Law School, Lillian Goldman Law Library
    2. Treasurer: Nicole Belbin, Head of Technical Services/Access Services, Western New England University School of Law Library
  4. Grants: a committee to seek applicants for grants to attend both the Innovative Users Group meeting (May 6-9 in Detroit) and this meeting was formed and included Ashley Moye (Chair), Stephanie Edwards, and Marek Waterstone. The grant recipients are:
    1. Caitlyn Lam, Librarian for Digital Resources, Lillian Goldman Law Library, Yale Law School
    2. Katherine Marshall, Acquisitions Librarian, Taggart Law Library, Ohio Northern University
    3. Katrina Piechnik, Library Systems Manager, Jenkins Law Library
    4. Karen Selden, Metadata Services Librarian, William A. Wise Law Library, University of Colorado Law School
  5. Report on the Law Library lunch held at the annual IUG meeting in Detroit. There were 31 participants, including 6 Innovative representatives. Tables were topic-oriented so that participants could choose what to discuss. The topics covered were: Sierra and other systems, ebooks licensing and patron access, E-resource management, Sierra implementation, and Encore and/or classic catalog.
  6. The Chair thanked the members of Innovative Interfaces who were present and who helped with the arrangements or agreed to present at the meeting:

    3. Hilary Newman, Vice President Customer Engagement

  7. The chair extended special thanks to:
    1. Brian Trippodo, Systems & Collections Librarian, Charlotte School of Law Library for his excellent service, including an extra year, as Treasurer of ILUG.
    2. Martin Wisneski, Assistant Director and Head of Technical Services, Washburn Law Library for his ongoing help as the webmaster for the ILUG website.
  8. The new team of ILUG officers was welcomed, and Ismael Gullon expressed his hope for a productive year and reminded members to volunteer. The new officers are:
    1. Chair - Ismael Gullon, Associate Law Librarian for Collections & Technical Services, Furman Smith Law Library, Mercer University
    2. Vice Chair - Scott Matheson, Associate Librarian for Technical Services, Yale Law School, Lillian Goldman Law Library

  9. The business meeting over, the programs were presented. The following topics were presented. The presentations are available at the ILUG website.

  10. At 12:15, the meeting adjourned and participants continued discussion over lunch.
